Overview
Cold cutting for the largest pipe diameters
The SD series takes the space-saving design of Mactech's WD cold cutters and adds extra strength for large diameters. Three models cover pipe from 60 in to 110 in OD across schedules and materials: the 880SD for 60 to 80 in, the 890SD for 70 to 90 in and the 8110SD for 90 to 110 in.
The lathes need minimal radial and axial clearance, so they install on in-line, closed-loop pipe. Dual bearing sets keep the tool rigid, which allows spark-free cutting and beveling at the same time, and the process suits cold cutting in hazardous environments.
An OD following tool block accommodates a workpiece up to ±1 in out of round, and the tool holder takes standard 1 in square tool bits. Dual hydraulic drives provide the power for tough steels and alloys, and custom setups and drives are available.
