Overview

Large holes on curved steel

The dual mag drill holds on curved and flat ferrous surfaces with two rare-earth magnets rated at 2,200 lb of holding force. A precision slide and bracket assembly positions the drill for large rigging and vent holes in casing, decks and structural steel.

The drill produces 231 ft-lb of torque and cuts holes up to 8 in in diameter. It works with standard bits, hole saws and end mills on a 1 in straight quill, with 8 in of travel.

Hydraulic and pneumatic drives are available. The air-driven version needs 116 cfm for peak performance. Weight with motors is 201 to 213 lb (91 to 97 kg).

Applications

Where the dual mag drill works

The drill is made for field machining where large holes are needed in installed steel.

Vent holes in casing

Cutting vent holes in casing directly on site.

Magnetic drill strapped and clamped to a vertical casing on a deck during a vent hole cut

Rigging holes

Large rigging holes in structural steel and decks, up to 8 in.
