Boring bar running through a large bore with metal chips collected in the opening
Mactech BB portable line boring bars repair bores on site, from small bores in confined spaces to bores up to 96 in with extension kits. Five bar sizes from 1.75 in to 8 in come with electric, hydraulic or air drive options.

The BB range brings line boring to the job site, so worn bores can be repaired without sending equipment to a shop. Bar lengths can be customized for every model, and standard lengths run from 48 in to 288 in depending on the bar.
The BB1750 uses a 1.75 in chrome-plated bar for bores from 2 in to 10 in and is a lightweight system for quick jobs in confined spaces. Its feed is bi-directional and variable, up to 0.020 in per revolution. The BB2252 uses a 2.25 in bar for bores from 2.5 in to 16 in, extended to 24 in with the 12 to 24 in kit or down to 1-3/8 in with the 1-1/4 in bar adapter. It has a 4:1 worm drive and an adjustable mechanical feed.
For larger work, the BB4000 (4 in bar, 25:1 drivehead) bores 10 in to 40.9 in, or up to 48.9 in with the extension kit. The BB6000 (6 in bar, 45:1 drivehead) bores 12 in to 48 in, or up to 72 in with its kit. The BB8000 (8 in bar, 30:1 drivehead) bores 12 in to 60 in, or up to 96 in with its kit, and accepts an optional facing arm.
Drive options depend on the model: electric or hydraulic on the BB1750, BB4000 and BB6000, and electric, hydraulic or air on the BB2252. The smaller bars can be paired with a bore welder so that boring and welding are done from one setup.
The bars repair worn or damaged bores on equipment that cannot easily be moved.
