Sawmill stacking
A vacuum robot places unedged quality boards layer by layer, with stacking laths set automatically.
Möhringer FLEXISTACK stacks edged or unedged sawn timber automatically. Lasers measure each board from both sides, and a vacuum robot places it, building tight, transport-safe packs with only one operator needed.

In the sawmill, FLEXISTACK stacks unedged quality sawn timber gently. Lasers measure each board from both sides, with optional deduction of length and width. A vacuum robot moves each board to its stacking position and aligns it, each layer is optimised for board width and spacing, a drive-along magazine places the stacking laths, and finished packs leave on a roller conveyor.
In secondary processing, FLEXISTACK destacks and restacks quality sawn timber into packs ready for dispatch, at up to 7 boards per minute with one operator. The control system picks matching boards from an intermediate buffer, turns conical boards when needed and removes the stickers automatically. The result is tightly stacked, interlocked packs with a measurement protocol.
For construction and roof truss timber, a gantry robot sorts and stacks individual parts with different cross-sections into packages for the next step or for dispatch. It replaces manual sorting, handling and temporary storage and reduces the physical strain of handling heavy timber.
As a picking system, FLEXISTACK stores workpieces vertically in a cantilever rack or horizontally in a storage area. 3D software calculates the stack with the highest packing density and the smallest length gaps, and in manual mode the package can be changed during work preparation. For panel stores, a driving gantry vehicle connected to the gantry robot stores workpieces and packs orders directly.
The same system is set up for the sawmill, secondary processing or order picking.
