Hydraulic Hot Press

STETON Hot Presses

Standard hot presses, polyurethane presses, P-40, P-90 and P-320

STETON hydraulic hot presses veneer chipboard and MDF, lay plywood on hollow panels and press polyurethane, acoustic, insulated and carbon fibre panels. Platens are heated by water, thermal oil or electric heaters.

Overview

Heated platens for veneering, laminating and composites

Standard STETON hot presses use 2500, 3000 or 3500 x 1300 mm tables, 50 to 200 t of thrust and 4 to 10 cylinders. They lay plywood on hollow panels and veneer chipboard or MDF panels. Models differ in size, pressure, number of cylinders, platen opening, platen type and number, and heating system, and any model can take intermediate platens to press two or more panels per cycle.

Platens can be serpentine, assembled or solid drilled, heated by water or thermal oil, or made of aluminium alloy with built-in electric heaters. Water can be heated by a wood-fired or electric boiler. Oil and electric heating reach higher temperatures for shorter glue setting, with easy thermostat control. Assembled and solid platens allow higher pressures, such as 300 to 400 t. A hot press version for polyurethane uses the same range of sizes and thrusts with assembled or solid drilled tables.

Dedicated models include the P-40 for sound-absorbing panels (2500 x 1600 mm, up to 210 °C), the P-90 for insulated panels used in air conditioning units and compressors (2500 x 1300 mm, 90 t, 600 mm daylight, 36 kW electric boiler) and the P-320 for carbon fibre lamination (6000 x 1620 mm, 320 t, 16 cylinders of 85 mm, 54 kW boiler).

Automation can be added to presses of any size, pressure and heating type: Version 1 loads at the front on a powered belt and unloads at the rear on free wheels, Version 2 adds a powered disk conveyor, and Version 3 loads and unloads at the front. HFC high frequency generators from 10 to 80 kW output and infeed/outfeed transfers with idle, PVC or powered stainless steel rollers are also offered.

Veneering panels

Veneering chipboard and MDF panels, and laying plywood on hollow panels.

Sound-absorbing panels

The P-40 makes sound-absorbing and acoustic insulation panels with tight temperature tolerance.

Insulated panels

The P-90 presses sound and heat insulated panels, mainly for air conditioning units and compressors.

Carbon fibre lamination

The P-320 laminates carbon fibre parts for the medical, automotive, sports and construction sectors.

Polyurethane

A dedicated hot press version processes polyurethane with thermal oil or water heating.
