High-Speed Tensile Impact

Hegewald & Peschke Rotational Impact Tester

Highly dynamic tensile tests on fibre composites, technical textiles and bonding points

The Rotational Impact Tester from Hegewald & Peschke runs highly dynamic tensile impact tests at 1 to 14 m/s, giving strain rates up to 350 s⁻¹ for crash-relevant material data.

Overview

Flywheel energy for tensile tests in milliseconds

The rotational impact tester is used for highly dynamic tensile impact tests with high speed and a long linear test path, mainly on fibre composites, technical textiles, seams, glued joints and bonding points.

A 300 kg rotating flywheel mass stores the energy, which is transferred to a linear slide with an integrated specimen holder. The tensile test takes only a few milliseconds, while force, displacement and time are recorded. Strain rates up to 350 s⁻¹ simulate material behaviour in crash conditions such as 50 km/h (14 m/s).

The machine is operated by a touch panel. Measured data is held in buffer memory and transferred automatically to LabMaster software for evaluation and traceable data backup.

Benefits

Why use a rotational impact tester

High speed, compact size. Reaches high testing speeds with a compact machine.
High impact energy. Gives high impact energy from a relatively small flywheel mass.
Crash-relevant data. Determines material behaviour at high strain rates.
Full result set. Evaluates tensile strength, elongation, modulus and absorbed energy.
Simple operation. Touch panel operation and LabMaster evaluation with traceable data storage.
Specific alternative. An alternative to pendulum, drop and high-speed testers for high-speed tensile tests.
