OverviewCharpy, Izod and instrumented impact testing
The PSd pendulum impact tester series determines the impact behaviour, impact toughness and absorbed impact energy of materials. A pendulum hammer is released from a defined height onto a standardised specimen, and the absorbed energy is the difference between the initial pendulum energy and the energy remaining after impact.
Depending on model and accessories, the machines perform Charpy, Izod, impact tensile, wedge impact and instrumented impact tests. The PSd 50 covers low-energy plastic testing, the PSd 300/450 medium to high-energy metal testing and the PSd 750 high-capacity metal testing.
Instrumented versions record force-time and force-deformation curves for analysis of crack initiation and fracture behaviour. ImpaSax software handles data acquisition, curve evaluation, reporting and statistics.
