Overview

Taking the laser to the mould

The SISMA SWA F is a semi-automatic laser welding system on wheels, made for the maintenance and repair of large moulds. Its design lets the welding head reach hard-to-access areas, which matters when the part is too heavy or too large to move.

The fully articulated head reaches narrow, deep grooves, internal corners and external edges. The system works on steels, copper and aluminium alloys, cast iron and copper, and with the right filler wire it produces high-hardness overlays, so moulds need no heat treatment after welding.

The 450F model uses a 450 W fibre source at 1070 nm with 4.5 kW peak power and pulse durations from 0.6 to 50 ms or CW. Laser control stays uniform and precise even at low power, and a multifunction console sets the parameters and moves the axes manually.

Applications

Work on large moulds

The SWA F is designed for welding on large moulds that cannot easily be moved.

Steel mould surface with a curved area rebuilt by laser welding

Large mould repair

Maintenance and repair of large, heavy or hard-to-transport moulds.

Laser weld along the curved edge of a large mould next to a marking pen

Grooves, corners and edges

Welding narrow deep grooves, internal corners and external edges.

Laser weld build-up on the edge of a ribbed steel mould

High-hardness overlays

Building up hard overlays with the right filler wire, without heat treatment afterwards.
