Plate Processor

MicroStep DS

Automatic plate feeding, drilling and cutting for structural steel parts

The MicroStep DS is a plate processor for drilling and cutting. It feeds plates automatically from standard 4 x 2, 6 x 2 or 12 x 2 m sheets, drills holes up to Ø60 mm and cuts fittings, gussets and endplates for structural steel.

Overview

Drilling and cutting for heavy structural steel

The DS is designed for efficient drilling and cutting of plates in heavy-duty structural steel work. It feeds plates automatically into the machine and can sort finished parts automatically at the output, which supports a high level of automation in the factory workflow.

It is suited to precise fittings, gussets and endplates, and is a time- and cost-effective way to produce certain flanged parts. Optional sorting setups include industrial robot manipulators that sort the parts and help with the next production step.

The machine works with standard sheets of 4 x 2, 6 x 2 and 12 x 2 m and material from 3 to 40 mm thick. Up to four tool stations combine plasma and oxyfuel cutting with drilling and tapping up to Ø60 mm, and bevel cutting is available through the plasma rotator and tilting stations. Bidirectional repeatability is 0.05 mm/m.

Applications

Parts made on the DS

The machine targets the plate parts that structural steel assemblies need in volume.

Endplates and fittings

Plates are drilled and cut into endplates and fittings in one pass.

Gussets

Gussets are cut from 3 to 40 mm plate with holes up to Ø60 mm.
