Knuckle-Joint Press

BLISS-BRET PG Knuckle-Joint Presses

Toggle-kinematics presses for hot forging, up to 12,000 kN

BLISS-BRET PG knuckle-joint presses descend fast and slow down near bottom dead centre for finer control of hot forging. They need less torque for the same force, so a smaller motor and less energy, up to 12,000 kN.

Overview

Toggle kinematics for hot forging

PG presses use a monoblock knuckle-joint system. The ram descends quickly and extends slowly around bottom dead centre, which gives finer control of material deformation during hot forging.

For the same force the knuckle-joint needs less torque than a conventional eccentric press, so a smaller motor can be fitted and energy use is lower.

Four homogeneous radiating slides compensate for thermal expansion and keep deformation uniform, preserving the geometry of the press. The frame can be horizontal or vertical, capacities reach 12,000 kN and each press can be customised on request.

Applications

Built for forging work

The PG range is designed around the needs of hot forging.

Hot forging

Slow movement near bottom dead centre gives finer control over deformation of hot material.

High-force pressing

Knuckle-joint kinematics deliver capacities up to 12,000 kN with less drive torque.

Geometry-critical parts

Radiating slides keep deformation uniform and preserve the press geometry.
