Overview
A step-bed lathe for large, heavy parts
The TUR 4MN is designed for heavy machining of large-size elements. A special step-bed type bed keeps processing very stable while the machine works at its full power.
The lathe comes in Standard and Heavy Duty executions. Distances between centers range from 4,000 mm to 19,200 mm. Swing over bed is 1,300–1,600 mm on the Standard version and 2,200–2,500 mm on the Heavy Duty version with high bed. Between centers, without steadies, the Standard version takes up to 12,000 kg and the Heavy Duty version 20,000 kg, with 30,000 kg as an option. Both take up to 3,000 kg in the chuck only.
The headstock has two spindle ranges, with main drive motor powers of 41, 60 or 71 kW and turning torques up to 42,500 Nm. Standard spindle executions have 140, 260 or 185 mm spindle bores; special executions go up to an A2-28 spindle nose and a 450 mm spindle bore. Rapid travel is 6 m/min on the X and Z axes, and the quill is 220 or 280 mm in diameter, with 400 mm as an option.
