Overview

Mold steel for plastics, resins and rubber

SIMOLD tool steel is intended for the manufacture of molds for plastics, synthetic resins and rubber molding. It is produced by SIJ Metal Ravne and distributed and serviced by HTS Group / Ravne Steel Center.

Sulfur-alloyed SIMOLD grades are used for backing parts of plastic injection molding tools because sulfur improves machinability. Grades alloyed with more than 12% chromium are classified as corrosion-resistant tool steels.

The steel suits tools exposed to pressure, wear and corrosion, in industries where long tool life, stable dimensions and consistent mold performance are required.
